Jonquel Jones Joins the GW Athletics Hall of Fame

George Washington University’s Athletics Hall of Fame shined a little brighter this past Friday, as basketball sensation Jonquel Jones was officially inducted into the GW Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2024. JJ’s collegiate career was nothing short of spectacular.

During her time at GW, Jonquel left an undeniable mark on the court, dominating the game with a unique blend of skill, passion, and determination. Her statistics are a testament to her impact; JJ averaged 15.7 points and 13.4 rebounds during her time playing for GW. Jones racked up an impressive  961 career rebounds, earning her the third spot in GW's all-time list. With a scoring average of  15.4 points per game, she proudly stands fourth in this category. Her defensive prowess led her to amass  177 blocked shots, making her the fifth all-time blocked shots leader for the Colonials. In only 76 games, she scored  1,171 points, placing her  23rd in GW’s all-time scoring ranks.

However, Jonquel's contributions went far beyond mere numbers. She became the third Colonial ever to achieve the benchmark of  1,000 points,  800 rebounds, and 100 blocks; a rare feat that speaks volumes of her dominance on the court.

Perhaps most impressive of all, Jonquel Jones was GW's first-ever first-round selection in the WNBA draft, paving the way for future players and setting a gold standard for the program.

It is with immense pride that we celebrate this incredible milestone in Jonquel’s career. Her induction into the GW Athletics Hall of Fame isn’t just a personal accomplishment; it's a historic moment for the university.

Congratulations, JJ, on this well-deserved honor. Your legacy at GW will undoubtedly inspire countless athletes for generations to come.
